How Important is Family in Addiction Recovery

In any path to obtain sobriety from any addiction, the question is asked, how important is family support in addiction recovery?

Today Coach Blu dives into family systems therapy, developing a home team, and processes this with Parham Nematollah, a licensed counselor with a master's degree in marriage and family therapy. Parham has been working in the mental health and addiction treatment space for over a decade and has great insight on how to involve the family in the healing process. Listen to his story and how he discovered for himself why family involvement can operate much like a team to achieve success in recovery and beyond. Listen as they talk about family systems in recovery, how do family members help and support an individual in active addiction and in recovery, and setting boundaries, and what enabling does.

Parham has been coaching boys basketball at Aliso Niguel High School since 2008. These days he mostly works with student-athletes in a mental health/mental wellness capacity, with the intention to provide them with the tools needed to succeed on and off the basketball court.

You can find Parham on Instagram, Linkedin, and Buckeye Recovery.
